Intro to video surveillance
The key task of any video surveillance system is to capture the maximum number of parts in the field of view of the video camera. And in order to allow real-time awareness the mobile applications became top 1 solution for that.
In Hollywood movies, scenes in which detectives investigate crimes using video surveillance look, to put it mildly, extremely simple: “Michael, he has something in his hands, enlarge this place for me! Aha! And here is the stolen diamond! ” Such films were popular in the 90’s, but in reality these opportunities have become widely used relatively recently, namely with the advent of CCTV technology Full HD quality.
Along with the development of scientific and technological progress, the level of complexity of tasks for security systems is growing. Analog video surveillance is not able to provide sufficient information and detail of the video, and against the background of the pace of modern life, we can confidently say that analog solutions are simply obsolete. Noting the fact that Full HD technologies became available on the market about 5 years ago, the question arises: why do analog systems still occupy, according to various data, from 87% to 92% of the domestic market of security video surveillance?
Many experts note the conservatism of the domestic consumer of security video systems. In other words, having once installed a specific video system on your site and connect it with a mobile application on the mobile network, the client prefers to stubbornly ignore the existence of more optimal solutions for his tasks. The reasons for the current situation on the market were many factors, among which the most significant are a number of false stereotypes about the unavailability, features of installation and operation of high-definition video surveillance systems.
Mobile application and effective video surveillance
In the segment of professional video surveillance, it is difficult to overestimate the benefits of Full HD. The image in Full HD quality literally allows you to see what was previously impossible to view. The need for the highest possible image resolution is present in almost any field of application of security video surveillance. And the new 5G connection network allows video transfer with great quality to mobile applications in a seconds. For example, for Full HD banking institutions, the video system will solve the problem of recognizing the faces of visitors, as well as to carry out quality control of cash transactions to record the facts of fraud, as the denominations of banknotes will be visible in the frame. The Full HD video camera, installed in a jewelry store, will allow the surveillance operator to clearly see the product, and in the supermarket – product labeling and other important details. With the help of high-definition video cameras for external surveillance, the security service operator will be able to easily recognize the numbers of cars passing in the area of inspection. The large amount of new information in the frame and the wide possibilities of its processing not only make it possible to increase the efficiency of security video systems, but also allow to bring a professional approach to the protection of objects to a fundamentally new level. High-definition images allow you to fully use the video surveillance system not only to improve security, but also to improve the quality of management, and hence the level of profit.
The need to modernize video surveillance systems is obvious, and there are only 2 ways to implement it: complete replacement of analog equipment on IP devices, or its partial upgrade with new to the Ukrainian market HD-SDI solutions. Many installers are not yet familiar with HD-SDI technology, and often, in order to improve the video system to achieve Full HD quality, offer the customer to switch to network IP video surveillance. But the end user imposes its requirements on video systems, including reliability, ease of maintenance and low total cost. Can the installer say with confidence that IP systems are able to fully satisfy these requests? The customer, having heard the price of the issue, as well as having studied the principles of operation and maintenance of IP systems, naturally decides to postpone the upgrade of their equipment until better times. Thus, the technical characteristics of security systems today in most cases do not meet the current level, and their upgrade is significantly delayed.
There will be no new information for anyone that, having decided to change the analog system to IP, to avoid significant, and in some cases frankly irrational costs, will not work. The question is not so much in the cost of the equipment itself, but in the significant financial costs for highly qualified professionals to install the system, set up and maintain it. It should be emphasized that this whole process can take up to 3-4 days. Significant financial costs, significant time and labor costs – all this is the reason why the installation of IP equipment simply frightens the customer. Naturally, given that many experts predict a rapid growth in the IP segment in the future, we can assume that in the long run, investment in the installation of such a system will gradually begin to pay off. But for a customer who wants to improve their video surveillance system today, we can confidently offer a more efficient way – namely HD-SDI technology.
If the customer uses a traditional system on coaxial cables, then HD-SDI camcorders and recorders will be the best solution for its modernization. It will take a few hours for the HD-SDI system to be put into operation by the installer: you do not need to install a new cable network to install it, as you can use the infrastructure left over from the old analog system.
